Dealer Misdiagnosis
Dealer Misdiagnosis Cost Customer $3000
2018 Wrangler diagnosed at the dealer as a transmission issue. He looked around and decided to come to my Eagle Automotive & Transmission - Spring location. I spoke to him personally and tried to get him to agree to bring it to us first to let us diagnose it to make sure because 95% of the dealers do NOT have transmission techs on staff. I even explained he's more than welcome to take it back home and take the transmission out himself as he originally planned, But, the customer has a busy, odd schedule so he chose not to do so.
Long story short, we got him another transmission and after he installed and programmed it, it was still doing the same exact thing. We got it into the shop and checked it out for him at no charge and found the intake tube to the throttle body wasn't properly seated and was allowing unmetered air into the engine which was causing the issues that felt like transmission problems. We would have literally fixed his vehicle for nothing or maybe $65 total just to cover some of the techs time.
This isn't to make him feel bad if he reads this but, rather, to help others understand two things.
1.) This is EXACTLY why we can't give prices over the phone based on a code on someone else's diagnostics
2.) Eagle Automotive and Transmission Spring and Friendswood locations are ultra hyper about doing what's right and helping people. I can honestly say my ENTIRE staff feels and operates this way. When we want to get your vehicle in our shops, it's not to trap you. We truly want to help.
