Get the Right Service for Your Vehicle

Honesty and Transparency is Our Policy

When your vehicle is in need of repair, one of the first thoughts that often comes to mind is "I wonder how expensive this will be." It's a natural reaction to suspect that you will be told your car, truck, or SUV needs extensive services, often beyond what you initially brought your vehicle in for. That is why Eagle Automotive & Transmissions, with locations in Friendswood and Spring, TX, has adopted a strict policy of honesty and transparency with our customers. It is our firm belief that you should not have to pay for unnecessary services.

Still skeptical? Take a look at these recent examples of how we consulted with our customers to prevent them from having repairs that weren't needed completed, saving them significant sums of money!

2005 Ford Explorer

Miles: 183,006

Customer Concern:

Customer indicated that someody tried to break into their vehicle and in the process, broke the shifter assembly. They further advised that when you put the Explorer into Reverse, it shifted "fast". This was after someone had attempted to install a used transmission after the original one had failed.

Upon inspection, it was determined that this customer would need to have the transmission replaced, as the used one her friend installed was not satisfactory. It is our suspicion that this was likely a high mileage unit from a salvage yard. While you can find components that operate properly, it is just as common that these parts do not work,or at least not for long and often come with a 30 day warranty. In addition to the transmission, she also needed a steering column, battery, sway bar links, speed sensors, had low coolant and several oil leaks. In short, the vehicle was going to need much more work than was justified for this vehicle. Despite the customer insisting several times (she is a new customer), we kept pushing back and telling her NO we weren’t willing to take her money and NO she definitely should not invest in this vehicle.

We know that’s easier said than done and don’t take saying so lightly but some times it is the only option and we NEVER want to make our money off bad investments by our customers. The customer listened to our counsel and is using the resources she intended to fix her Explorer to acquire a new one - a process which we are happily helping guide her on.

2023 Buick Envision

Customer Concern: This customer had her 2-year old Buick Envision towed to us because she believed she had a bad battery as it wouldn't recharge.

This vehicle is only 2 years old, and had less than 9750 miles on it, meaning it was still covered under the dealer's bumper-to-bumper warranty. We happily diagnosed the issue and confirmed it was the battery. We were transparent in telling her that we did not want her spending money on having this repaired at our shop when it would be fully covered under her warranty. She said she had "bad experiences with the dealer" and did not want to go back to them.

Rather than just say "OK" and perform the service and have her spend money she didn't need to, we did the right thing and offered to work with the dealer on her behalf, including making sure the vehicle got there. She insisted we conduct the service and charge her for it. This customer is a senior citizen who was recovering from a fracture that impacted her mobility. We wound up conducting the service for her, and when completed we brought the car back to her at her home. We even took the extra time to determine which parking spot was hers and took a return trip back to move it one spot to be sure she didn't have any issues.

2021 Toyota Corolla

Mileage: 61,777

Customer Concern: This customer had their vehicle at the dealership to determine why they were hearing a loud rumble sound when they hit 10-20 mph. The dealer had informed them that they needed to have both axles and the transmission replaced.

This customer had initially taken their vehicle to a dealership to have their repairs done. With over 61,000 miles, this car is just barely out of warranty. The customer was told that they needed a new transmission and CV axles.

When we inspected this Corolla, we found that the transmission mount was very loose, and there were even a couple of bolts that had been backed out. This likely was allowing the transmission to shift more than normal, causing damage to the CV axles. There was no evidence of a faulty or bad transmission, although we did need to replace the CV axles. In addition we fixed the transmission mount at no charge to the customer. Once those repairs were made, we re-tested and again concluded that the transmission was fine. This ultimately saved this customer between $6000-$8000!
